Merging fractured game profile pages?
I've been noticing that several games that are essentially the SAME game but have slightly different releases (example: limited editions, expansion paks) have completely separate game profile pages on gamerDNA. Here's a good example:
- BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (PS3)
- BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - Limited Edition (PS3)
Both are the SAME GAME, yet the game profiles for each are completely separate. Thus gamers looking to meet with others who play BlazBlue for PS3 will only meet those who chose to add a particular release to their profile, and will be missing out on those who chose to add the OTHER to their profile. Considering that each of these releases are the SAME GAME, it seems to me to be a bit counter-productive to the ideals of gamerDNA to fracture gamer populations like this when players are reporting game sessions, and blog posts on 2 separate game profiles.
Another good example of this fracturing of gamer populations, is expansion paks. Seeing that most expansion paks require the original game to play, it stands to reason that profiles for these should be merged into 1 profile for the game title.

Done and Done. Merged the titles, renamed to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3), and added the box art.
Good feedback and thanks for letting us know. The box art should appear tomorrow after the cache clears.
Thanks!

We are continuously working to merge all of these. We pull our game data from multiple sources, and it is often very manual to get all of those sources to merge together how they represent all their different games. We will continue to look for where we can improve this process with additional resources when they are available. In the mean time, if there are specific games that you want cleaned up, post them as a request here and we will do it.

Inappropriate?Hmmm.. Well, one of the big user group splits in my experience has been between BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger -- Limited edition (PS3), and BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (PS3). These 2 game profiles really should be merged into 1 profile considering they're most definitely the SAME game. Unfortunately users of one profile are not seeing the gameplay sessions, or interacting with the users of the other profile.
Please have a look at this issue for us.. Much appreciated..

Inappropriate?Okay both games and activities should be merged, but let us know if anything looks off. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks really good to me Stephen. Thanks so much for doing this.. And yeah, this is exactly what I was looking for. I felt that since the 2 entries had split user camps, each side was missing out on meeting and discussing the same game with eachother. Thanks again. -
Inappropriate? We realized as well that these are splintering the conversation and made same changes to help avoid multiple versions in the future. In addition we are merging some of the older ones. However don't be afraid to speak up if you see titles/releases you feel should be combined.

Inappropriate?Hi I just wanted to point out that these two pages for Cross Fire should also be merged:
http://www.gamerdna.com/game/cross-fire
http://www.gamerdna.com/game/crossfir...
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Crossfire has been merged, sorry for the delay!

Great! Thanks Stephen! -
Inappropriate? There's a game entry for "Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Collector's Edition (PS3)," but the URL resolves an error page.
There's also a game entry for "Ninja Gaiden Sigma II (PS3)."
Could we just merge the two into "Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3)?" -
Inappropriate?Oh, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 needs box art! (Sorry, managed to remember just after my 15 minute edit window closed.)

Inappropriate?"Lost Planet 2 (PS3)" is listed twice within the game search suggestion list.
One entry points to http://www.gamerdna.com/game/lost-pla...
The other points to http://www.gamerdna.com/game/lost-pla...
Both of which appear as separate games. -
Inappropriate?Perhaps "Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition" should merge into the more general "Fallout 3." I don't think we really need the separation.
The only difference is the inclusion of the DLC, and really I don't think those should be listed individually either.
